I feel really empty a lot of the time, like I'm missing something, then I'll get confused, and it will probably end up with me crying. This happens a lot, especially during school. Its a really weird feeling, like I can't breathe, but I'm still breathing. It only happens when I'm talking to people. It doesn't matter where, like if I'm home alone IMing a friend, or in school talking to someone, but it seems to always happen near people, but its never the same person. They aren't saying anything bad, or offensive. Its not like school is horrible, either.

Does this ever happen to anyone? I think its normal, just checking though. Thanks.

Sounds like you might be having panic attacks, which appear to be more common nowadays for some reason. There are prescription medications that therapists can prescribe for this, but that probably isn't necessary. As another person here said: Relax. Try to reduce stress in any area where you find it. The difficult thing about panic attacks is that they don't usually happen because of what you are actively or consciously thinking - they are more related to things going on in your subconscious. If you are commonly shy or anxious around people, that can sometimes bring on a panic attack, but usually the causes are not readily obvious.

I should also note that the term "panic attack" is rather poorly named. It doesn't necessarily mean that you feel particularly "panicked", but that you are experiencing symptoms that are associated with being panicked.

Again, try to reduce all forms of stress in your life and find ways to relax.

You are describing depression and anxiety. Although it can't be called normal, it is more prevalent among young people than anyone cares to admit. You need to be treated professionally. Sometimes all you have to do is talk it out with someone in counseling. Start with telling your parents, or an adult mentor, and seeing your primary health care provider to start. You don't have to feel this way. There are treatments available. Please don't be frightened by the possibility of receiving treatment. More people than you can imagine feel this way and seek treatment for it. Good luck to you. Things can and will get better.
