i made my GF wait with me to see the 10:30 digital presentation even tho we were there early enough to see the 10:00 regular showing of Spiderman. when the movie started, she realized why (actually, i think even the previews were digital too). and we saw a film directly after this in the regular format--the difference is very noticeable.
it's this simple; if you can look at a TV and see the difference between an HD picture and a regular picture--and the difference matters to you--then see digital presentations when possible. i'm colorblind for the most part but i can still see what is crisp and better defined. for me, especially when seeing a movie with action/special effects, i definitely say go digital.
IMAX is probably the best choice, but the theater is farther away (for me), people usually are packed into reserved seating (so i just can't walk in), and the cost is pricier. but if IMAX was as available as digital, i'd go with that. the few IMAX features i've seen have really been a good experience.

You forgot 3-D.
But out of your selection, I really like IMAX. That 360 degree effect really makes you feel like you're part of the movie.
Film or digital makes no difference to me 'cause I can't tell the difference.
But I really want to watch a movie in a theater on the largest and widest screen possible. It adds to the overall effect of the movie.
