Harry Chapin originally recorded "The Cat's in the Cradle" sometime in the '70's.

Cats In The Cradle...by Harry Chapin (early 70's) This song was written by his wife, Sandy, depicting their life when he was gone on tour all the time. His only number one hit. Harry died in 1981. Good song.
