Thinking about getting one as it works out cheaper having the car seat included in the price. Unsure as the safeness of baby being in car seat for long periods of time.

I have always heard that newborns should spend no more than 1.5 hours in a carseat at any time. There should be at least a 1 hour break before putting them back in.

I had the graco travel system and I used the infant carrier attached to the stroller less than 5 times. It is awkward, it makes the center of balance on the stroller higher so it tips very easily.

But more importantly infant seats have been linked to poor oxygenation in infants. They also cause the baby to overheat. The other problem with infant seats is that they aren't designed for comfort first, they are designed to be as safe as possible in an accident.

The important thing to note is that because all strollers in travel systems recline to at least 45 degrees and generally lower they are safe to use from day one with an infant. Babies don't need to be flat -just reclined. All strollers not just the flat baby bed kind are safe for infants. (excluding certain preemies)

For a 10 min store trip with a sleeping baby you might put the carseat on the stroller, but all in all I find it a useless and potentially dangerous option.

I got the Graco Mosaic and it's wonderful. My son's now big enough so I don't need to car seat, but it's the best thing I bought. We don't actually have a car but the car seat rocks when on the floor, it kept my son warm when we went out as he was born In January and it folds up longways so you can put it away easier. Just make sure your baby doesn't spend all day in it. I think the longest my son was in it was a couple of hours while he was having a sleep. Sometimes it's still the only way to get him to sleep during the day.

i got a travel system with the incar base as i am in and out of the car all the time but never for very long. its been a godsend and definitely value for money...my lad is nearly 5 months and hes just about ready to go in it buggy style, although it does lay flat so he could have gone in it anytime.

they are perfectly safe but i wouldnt want him in it for hours at a time....its very rare he's in there for 2hrs+

I use a travel system for both my children and had no problems, it was much easier to put the seat in the buggy if they were asleep

when i had my son i was advised not to get one from the local baby shop even though a lot of their stock was them...
she told me that the baby should only stay in it for max of 2hrs at a time. she said that if you dirve somewhere to go shopping which is an hour away then put it straight onto the pushchair and go shopping for a hour then dirve home its already been in the same possition for 3hours...
she also said the childs spine is soft and being in that possition can make the spine to bend gradually.. hearing this it really put me off the idea as i was really interested in them..
i went for a lay flat pram. my son looked so comfortable and i was happy knowing he was comfortable and wasnt bending his spine. everytime he was in it he had plenty of room to sprawl out and fell asleep everytime.

Perfectly safe. Now think of something else to worry about. The important thing about parenthood is not to enjoy it, but to keep on thinking about daft things to worry about. Never relax.

ppl at ante-natal class said newborns should not be in a upright position for more than 90mins at a time, but the travel systems are perfectly fine. its not like the baby's upright for ages, just slightly elevated
