My "girlfriend" has a collection of them, which I doubt her hubby knows she has. I wonder if he'd freak if he found out. Since a lotta straight guys suddenly get really insecure and negative when they encounter that stuff.
She says that among her favorites, she likes the "style" of certain artists.
I admit, some of the boys/guys are quite adorable.

Well, I believe that women find Yaoi fascinating for a lot of the same reasons men find it appealing to see two women together. It can be exciting, because it seems forbidden. Also, another part of the yaoi fascination is the fact that women can't do it. So, that alone makes it interesting.
A lot of the artists who make yaoi manga create touching stories, with a lot of conflict and angst, which is often resolved by the two character's strong love and devotion to one another. Add in the fact that the characters are very, very happy to be...doing what they're doing, and you have a very engaging story. The art is detailed and beautiful, and I, personally, like the different clothes that characters wear. Well, I hope this helped.

I think because it satisfies that age-old fantasy of "what if guys were more like women"- just from an emotional standpoint....
Just as in Yuri, having idealized perfect-looking individuals as the focus of the storylines doesn't hurt either.

I don't understand it myself. My girlfriend is obsessed with Yaoi and Shonen-ai. She says she doesn't like the gay sex aspect of it, just the sweet, gay, boy-on-boy romance part. ...[shrug]

becuase these yaoi fan girls are afraid of real men, so they have to turn them into something non threatening.
