Mixed Problems with math...?

Question

Well these word problems ..i have ..i dont really understand them..im getting decimals for some reason..

1. Two trains leave New york for Florida at the same time. The first train averages 95 miles an hour and the second train averages 75 miles an hour. How many miles apart are they after 3.5 hours.?

2. Two Cars leave New york for chicago at 6: A.M. The first car average 41 miles an house and the second car averages 43 miles an hour. How many miles apart are that at 9:00 A.M.?

3. If a car averages 25 miles an hour, how many miles will the car travel in 3 hours, 36 minutes.

4. Find the length of a square if its area is 729..do i use the Lenght and width formula for this problem?

.As the two trains are running in the same direction,their effective speed or relative speed will be the difference of their respective speeds
Therefore relative speed
=95-75
=20 mph
Hence after 3.5 hrs,they will be (20*3.5) or 70 miles apart.
2.Relative speed between the two cars
=43-41
=2 mph
The time of travel
=9.00AM-6.00AM
=3 hrs
Therefore the two cars will be (3*2) or 6 miles apart
3.3hrs.36 ninutes=3 36/60 hrs=3 3/5=18/5 hrs
The car will travel 25*18/5 or 90 miles
4.The area of a sqare is x^2 when x is the measure of length of one of its side
hence if you wnt to find the side of a square from its area ,you have simply to square root its area
heresqrt 729=sqrt(9*9*9)=3*3*3=27
Therefore the measure of its length is 27 units

The difference in rates is 95-75 = 20 mph. After 3.5 hours, they're 3.5 hr * 20 mph = 70 miles apart.

You could also solve by saying 95 * 3.5 = 332.5 and 75 * 3.5 = 262.5. 332.5 - 262.5 = 70. But this requires three steps, and the first method only requires two.

Solve the second one the same way.

3. 3 hr 36 minutes = 3-36/60 houra = 3-6/10 hours = 3.6 hours. Multiply that by 25.

4. wl = 729, but l = w, because this is a square. w^2 = 729
w = 27

x2=75*3.5=262.5
answers= 322.5-262.5=60miles

2) from 6am to 9am: 3Hours
x1=41*3=123
x2=43*3=129
answer=6miles

3) 36min*(1h/60min) = 0.6h +3h= 3.6 hours of travel
X=3.6*25=90miles

4) L^2=area of the square
L^2=729
L=729^0.5
L=27

In general there's nothing wrong with getting decimals in your answers, but doing a quick rundown of these problems, I think they all have integer solutions. The answer above me has a good process for #1 and #2.
