In your own words... what is courage and when have you had to have it?

Courage is a sense of confidence.
Courage is a sense of fearlessness that no matter the outcome, one has sufficient coping skills to deal with a situation.
Courage is not stupidity and blindly charging into harm's way.
Courage is the ability to deal with negativity, including negative responses from others.
Courage is the ability to deal with rejection, abandonment and dislike of others.

The ability to stand up for what you believe, even when others are against you. There are different degrees with which people will go to defend their beliefs , some will even die for them! Yes I think all of us at some point or other in our lives are called upon to be courageous. Here again to different degrees. A person standing up for a promotion at work, or a soldier on the battle field both show courage, but the soldier can die for his courage!

The significance of courage is unrelated to external reality; that is merely a fear management system. Real courage is pursuit of self-knowledge and the willingness to change.

Courage is the strength to carry on in all forms , the strength to stand up when you need to , the strength to back down when it's called for . The strength to admit something you don't want to . ( goes well with serenity and wisdom ) .

My kids are my main source of courage . each one is uniquely different , Kidney problems , autism . etc etc .
The strength to go on in the face of a problem , the strength to assure .
The courage to look death in the face and say " my God will defy you ! "

The willingness to go above and beyond th call of duty. I have to have courage during war times.
