these are my two favorite bands, and i can never decide who is better. what do you think?

I'm pretty sure the guys in Coldplay would admit to anyone that they wouldn't even exist if not for the inspiration they received from growing up on U2's music. So that pretty much solves it.
When Coldplay releases anything that comes close to "War," "The Joshua Tree" or "Achtung Baby" they can start to compare. Until then, they're just swimming in U2's wake.

U2 can take any band in the world to the bleachers, including Coldplay. And these are two of my favorites as well.

U2 is in the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame, they have been in the industry a lot longer & proven themselves over & over - they have produced more hits - their music is timeless, they create amazing songs - they continue to make a difference in the music industry & philanthropically speaking, there is no band that can top their generosity & humanitary work....
I too love Coldplay, but when comparing the two, U2 is ahead by miles....

I would say U2 is better because they been around for a while. But if it was Coldplay VS Oasis I would say Oasis hands down
