Are the people who think Ron Paul doesn't have a chance the same people who said...?

Question

the American hockey team "didn't have a chance" against the Russians in the 1980 Olympics, or that Boise State "didn't have a chance" against Oklahoma in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl (greatest game ever played!!)?

I think the main reason Ron Paul is considered by many to "not have a chance" is because those people who say that won't give him a chance. If they voted in what they really believed - Ron Paul would win easily.

What do you think?

(And if you're one of those idiots who says "Ron Paul is a nut" - give us concrete examples of why you think that... otherwise, you're just a blowhard.)

No, because most of the people who support Ron Paul are too young to have been cognizant for the 1980 Olympics. Ron Paul isn't' going to get very far.

I do not think that Ron Paul is a nut, I think he has some very conservative and refreshing ideas about how far we've gotten away from the Constitution as our Founding Fathers meant it to be. He wants to change that, and I think that's a worthy goal.

Unfortunately, that worthy goal would come by vastly weakening the Federal government. Neither political party wants to do that, so Ron can expect a lot of resistance from the GOP big wheels. They are going to continue to call him a wing-nut and deride his ideas, making him look bad in the media.

Large corporations and special interest groups also like the powerful central government, so Ron Paul is not going to get a lot of support (verbal or financial) from them. So he'll have few oppotunities to get his message out in order to counter those who defame him.

Given those two conditions, and the fact that most people really don't pay attention to anything that doesn't make the six o'clock news, Ron Paul's chances are practically zero. This is a presidential campaign, not a sporting event. The concept that any player can beat any other player on any given day does not apply to presidential politics.

Most people are obtuse. They believe what they hear from the mainstream media and mainstream government. They hardly bother to do their own investigation and come to their own conclusions based upon facts.

If they bothered to use their brain Americans would (and I'm speaking about the vast majority here) find that the Federal Reserve is a privately owned corporation that has been pushing it's perverted political agenda upon the American people for over 90 years now. Given the chance the owners of the Federal Reserve will take away all the rights that our Founding Fathers fought and died for.

But since most Americans don't bother to do much independently critical thinking they believe that there's a difference between Clinton, Obama, Edwards and McCain, Guiliani, Romney, Thompson and Gingrich. They believe there is a difference between Republicans and Democrats, liberals and conservatives...aside from mere rhetoric that is.

Ron Paul is a patriot whereas all the other Presidential candidates (leading) are puppets to the owners of the Federal Reserve. The real question though is where do you stand? Are you a puppet or a patriot? Once you decide let me know.

While his nomination appears unlikely, I will continue to support him.

At one time I've argued for voting for one of the 2 most likely to win (the lessor of 2 evils), but now believe that approach is wrong. I now vote for the best candidate.

Ron Paul is one of apparently very few people who have the integrity to honor their oath of office to support the Constitution.

Even if he doesn't win, supporting him will hopefully educate more people on the importance of the Constitution. This can have an influence on the other candidates who will get some tough questions on the subject and who will court his supporters.

The truth is that Ron Paul should have run on an Independent ticket. You cannot vote for the man if he doesn't win the nomination and the GOP is not going to give Ron Paul the nod. He is an outcast.

Ron Paul well I have only one opinion on the guy. He is honest. If honesty was the number one trait needed to become President of the United States he would win hands down but sadly being able to lie constantly is a more acceptable characteristic to be leader of the US.

I LOVE Ron Paul. I think his main problem is money though. Too many people who have enough money to put behind a presidential candidate are worried about how it might look to other members of the republican party. *sigh* I wish more people knew about him and stuff, Ron Paul is my hero.

A lesson I learned quite a while back: if you think that Ron Paul is the best candidate, by all means support him. Supporting the best candidate is worthy in itself, regardless of the outcome. But don't let you own preferences blind you to realities. He isn't going to win, and the sooner you realize that, the less pain it will be when real voting starts and reality sets in.
