is this abuse? what would have happend if i told?

Strangle me.. He didn’t make it so I couldn’t breath he would just grab my neck and push me back and kind of shake my head. Only when he was really “mad” though.. Idk I remember this time he called me out from my room and told me to get him the remote for the tv. (mind you I was in my room reading a book and the remote was in the living room the SAME room he was in and all he had to do was get off his a$s and get it it was 10 feet away from him where as I was in a completely different part of the house)

I got him the remote and told him that I didn’t think it was fair that I was busy and in a different room and he asked me to get the remote. And I called him lazy.. that’s when he flipped out on me and that’s when that happened.

Do you think that was wrong of him to do that? I was 9 years old. Or do a lot of parents use their kids as maids to do simple tasks that they could have??

This was years ago so I really don’t feel like doing anything about it now but what would have heppend if I did tell back then? Plus if I tried doing something he would deny it and I never told my mom so she has no idea. I told my best friend about a year ago and that was the only person I’ve told and they talked to my mom about it and she said that kind of thing never happened and that I made it up (which is what she truly believes) so no one would believe me even if I told or tell and my best friend thinks im lying about the whole thing!

im scared of talking to him.. the thing is i havent seen him in a few years my parents got a divorce he was cheating on my mom and so i havent seen him in like 2 years and i know he would just make me look like im a lying idiot.

yes i have remembered it for along time. it still makes me feel like crap and it still hurts. i can remember everything about that night..

and the thing is.. i cant remember anything happy my dad ever did for me.. all i can remember is the bad... and the fear i had of getting yelled at or hit by him when i was growing up.. it really did scar a big part of my past

but i KNOW he wont remember it but i DO remember it because it was ME that was hurt

If your dad did it honey, no matter what he did, how serious or not, he may it seem to put your life in danger or was on the bound to hurt you seriouslly more, go to Social services about it, and usually from there you can talk to a one on one person who will help you. Trust me on that one. My dad was so abusive to my mom, and I was his angel. Til one day, my mom had left me alone with my father, and right there my father had molasted me. It made me the strong girl who I am today, but I was only 7 then. I wasnt able to tell my mother because I thought she would hate me, so we moved to MD, and I right away told my aunt, who confronted my mother about it. The next day I was tooken to social services with my mother. They had asked me what he had done, and recorded it. Pulled up his record, and noticed he did it to his other kids from otherr woman in MI, and therefore they tried to bring him to court and couldnt find him, but They sent me to a physicologist who had helped me. So dont wait to long for something big to happen like me... do action now!

Choking is wrong. You have remembered it for a long time. You should deal with it, including confronting him! That will do you more good than anything. It will give you a sense of taking back some power that you could not then!

Fair. No! Things like that happen all the time to children. Sometimes they end up dead or in a hospital!

That was abuse and I hope that you have been able to deal with it in a constructive way. Anyone who attempts to get slave labor from their child and then attempts strangling the child is just WRONG. He needed and may still need psychological counseling and anger management.
Please when you have children, don't ever let him babysit.
If your mom wants to know why you won't leave your kid with them, tell heragain. But no matter her response, put your own children's safety first.

Yes that is abuse. If you had told back then there would be an investigation and you could be taken and put into foster care. I wouldn't worry about it though since the cops can't do anything about it now if you were to report that.

this is abuse. you rly need to tell someone. but if you rly love him and dont want him to get in trouble, try to get him help or try and reason with him. hope this helps!
also, dont bottle in ur feelings. its good u posted this. bottling in feelings isnt good for you. tell a diary, a friend, or something.

*BUt it was wrong to call him lazy...maybe that infuriated him and frustrated him..but since u remember it so vividly it affected u badly. tell a family member. or someone. it will help.

you should talk to your mom if your having problems with your dad. its ok to tell not telling your family could lead to a whole lot more trouble.

of course it was abuse-----and it still is--if he is still living(cant remember remainder of your yahoo) I sure as hell would not see him now unless it was to tell him exactly what he can do with his lazy @ $ $
