The Soviet Union no longer exists. When it did, it was a threat to world peace because of the bombastic rhetoric and nonsense of the cold war from BOTH the Soviets and the US.

The US is antagonising Russia with their proposed 'shield' and Russia is returning to totalitarian rule under Putin.
At least during the Soviet era there was a balance of power and a stand-off.
Now the US think they can police the world.
Putin may have got it right. The world needs an 'opposition', otherwise we'll all be eating hamburgers and drinking coke. God help us!

I think you are not upto date inGK.There is no soviet union now.USSR,the union of republics got separated in to individual nations.The biggest one is now Russia.It is the Soviet Union that propagated communisam.It was the first communist country to be established and collapsed.

If you mean the USSR, I have this romantic image of a country of stoic underdogs achieving great things without having to consult a Health and Safety Executive.
Geographically the countryside rolls on forever allowing Siberian tigers to roam freely and salmon to spawn in great numbers.
Put into context though, that's all complete tosh.

I've been doing about the Russian revolution in history and they seemed to be pretty brutal but i feel sorry for what they went through - it must have been really tough for everyone.

it was a nice idea that everyone can live and work together and that everyone could live in peace. they just missed one thing, they put Stalin in charge who had a habit of killing people and trying to start wars.
