Some people like to push to odds. And at least one person has been hit by lightning some seven times and survived. An American park ranger by the name of Roy Sullivan was nailed sever times between 1942 and 1977. Known as the "human lightning rod", Mr. Sullivan survived being struck although his hair was set on fire twice and he suffered burns on various parts of his body. But he lived. Kids, he is a professional. Don't try that at home...only Mr. Sullivan and Thor can ride the lightning! Though lightning is hot, the discharge usually lasts such a short time that serious burns do not necessarily occur. And current usually prefers to stay on the outside of an object. Unless the discharge goes through the heart or spinal column, a victim can often survive. I've been struck once...

You just asked a question... and answered it. If you knew the answer... why did you even ask the question?

You've just answered your own question. BTW I have been struck too, while disconnecting a radio aerial in advance of an approaching storm. Guess I wasn't quick enough. Next time I'll do it faster than lightning!

Sulivan was unlucky. He was struck and taken to hospital many times but was always discharged quickly.

The poor man, who worked as a ranger in the Smokey Mountains, (yes really!) ,committed suicide.

The safest place to be is in a car. (See Faraday cage on the net)

Good question, my mom was struck once and survived but I don't think she'd be willing to get struck again to find out.

Wow--can't even imagine being struck by lightning, and apparently, you're living proof of the answer to your question.

If the first strike doesn't kill you, why would the second? I think you would probably be safe playing golf in a thunderstorm. If the rain gets to heavy, stand under a tree.
