If for some unknown reason Microsoft has never found your windows platform to be invalid with their "WGA", (Windows Genuine Advantage), tool, you have made a really big mistake by accepting an upgrade.

Windows validation is not 100% perfect and if you have download all critical updates, WMA, Windows Defender, etc. etc, from their download site with a non-genuine windows key they now have your entire hardware copied and if you don't supply Microsoft with a valid key they can either shut you down or file criminal charges against you.

You don't go indepth as to how you were getting around not having a valid key, until you decided to update. (This was your big mistake).

Nobody on Yahoo Q&A is going to give you their key so that they are a partner in crime. Plus then their key will not work, because you tried to use the key in your own pc.

My suggestion to you to resolve the problem once and for all is to purchase a very small item, like a mouse, and ask the computer shop to sell you say, Windows XP Home on an OEM and the price will be around $98.00 depending on what country you live in.

Knowing Microsoft if they want being they already have your hardware from your system, they can be really nasty and not even allow you to use your new key. Doubt they will do that, because they want every body to have a valid key.

With your valid key Microsoft will perform a validation atleast four times over, just with critical updates or downloading of WMP 11, before they allow the installation.

Well, if you validate, it is most likely that the fact that your Windows is not valid will be discovered. The result being usually that it says the key is invalid or there is a problem with your copy of windows. At which point, you have the option of phoning the windows number given and attempt to correct your validation issue over the phone. I had a valid copy of windows and this happened to me....they gave me a new serial key as soon as they checked things out.

However, since that is not really an option for you, I believe windows will keep pestering you to take the steps to correct the issue.

Hi,

Well i think you have accepted to install the guenuin check tool, it's a tool that check from time to time the validity of your window. you can continue using your operating system without validation, but you may be unable to install some updates in the future (like installling IE7)

Make sure no one else is using the same code you are, otherwise whenever you have your PC connected to the Internet and you try to get updates or something it won't work.
