i was wondering why they're not on the mlb team list no more. is it because they sucked so bad that it was just a waste of money to keep them playing in the mlb?

The Expos actually moved (relocated) to the Nations Capitol and were renamed the Washington Nationals. (Washington D.C)

The Expos moved to Washington DC because of low attendance figures im Montreal. The franchise still exists, but is now the Washington Nationals.

Sold to MLB (yep, the league owned the team) in a miserably gamed, three-way deal that also saw the Marlins and Red Sox get new ownership, finally relo'd to Washington, playing in ancient RFK Stadium for now, a new owner at last, a new park on the way. Team still sucks though.

I expect Vlad Guerrero will, in time, be the last active Expo.

First, they moved from a small but lovely outdoor park to a mausoleum of an indoor one. Then they couldn't get funding to build a baseball only park. (Not that the then-owners couldn't afford to build it themselves - I'm sure you're heard of Seagram's Distillers.)

The team was sold to Jeffery Loria, who was allowed to run it into the ground.

When Loria sold the team to MLB, it was in order to allow him to purchase the Marlins and to do the same.

MLB ran the Expos for a few years, and supposedly kept trying to sell the team. But they rejected every bid, including those from one the largest banking group in the country. They finally moved to Washington and became the Nationals to start the 2005 season. MLB sold the team to an ownership group headed by Ted Lerner in the middle of the 2006 season.

I guess the city of Montreal couldn't afford to have a MLB team in their city anymore. The team is now the Washington Nationals. They were very bad, but that's not the reason.

it is because they are now the washington nationasl! they switched cities because they were technically wasting money considering nobody would show up to their games, so they moved it to the nations capital. but if you look at the players that they used to have on their team, if they didnt make so many stupid move they could be a complete contender whether they were in montreal or not. (notable players: vlady, pedro)
