yes but some people go missing because they want to, not everyone has the Waltons for a family.
And I for one am against microchipping humans. Is anyone aware of the potential health risks (phone masts anyone?)
Besides which my guess is if someone is going to abduct a child, they mean harm to them and no microchip is going to stop them, they'll probably not think twice about cutting it out.
And yes there is the Human Rights element. How many parents would use the fact they could track their teenagers at all times as a means of control which in turn sends out the message 'I don't trust you'.
I have two children myself and I really would not like to feel I had to have them chipped. it would lead to a false sense of security amongst some parents which in turn might see more irresponsible parents if anything

No. I don't want to have that. Actually, I find the idea a little scary. You suggest using the device for a good cause, and maybe I watched just a little too much X-files but I see where a device like that could be used for more than just abductions. I want more personal freedom and less government control in my life.

For a start microchips can migrate.....after finding the child or other kidnapped victim, a scanner would need to be used to locate the chip......in animals, (in the event of finding the animal in the first place that is) assuming the chip has migrated, the scanner can't locate the damned thing anyhow....
But for arguements sake, let's say then that everyone is chipped at birth.....a very desirable child is kidnapped, lets say from affluent parents in order to secure a ransom....
Do you not think that the kidnappers would stop at no length to get what they wanted, even if it meant locating the chip & cutting it from their victim as has been known in some animals....
There are doctors around you know that would perform anything for money.......

And 'BIG BROTHER" will be able to track your EVERY MOVE--really think about this one---in one way it is good- just like fingerprinting kids back in the 90's which now came back to bite those kids in the ***.....any type of tracking mechanism is against our laws of freedom- too bad Mr. Bush doesn't think so as he monitors all our phone calls and has more cameras on street corners than ever in the United States---I guess he's looking for Bin Laden in the corner of that 7/11!

NO.
As good as an idea that is to keep track of people.
But that will make more people want to rebel...
Imagine being at a party you snuck out to and your parents show up to take you home...you're just at that party to get away from everything.
Plus, that is the next big step in globalization. It is one more tool the government can use against us if there was a need to rebel one day.
But, it is a good idea for children so they can be tracked easier, but it is a bad idea in the long run.

Yeah sure it will help national security. If you believe that you will believe that the moon is made of cheese
In reality comparatively few children go missing and even with a tag I do not think it will actually help. I take it that you are thinking of the Mc.Ccann case. Sometimes people wish to go missing because their home circumstances are unbearable

Sometimes i think we should... just cuz children get abducted too often.. but then again the government would have way too much access to ordinary people.. plus i'm abductors would figure out a way to remove the tracking device...

Ally - When a dog goes missing and you have it chipped. Can you find it immediately? NO YOU CANT.
It only helps to id the dog ONCE you have found him and then scanned him.
Your talking about something in your body that is like a mobile phone that continuously gives out signals. In which case, how are you intending to recharge it all the time. AND do you want an electronic device pulsating signals out. Look how many people dont want a phone mast next to their building. Do you want one inside your body?
You go right ahead and get cancer. I'll take my chances on being kidnapped.
By the way the chances of you dying by a bee sting are higher than being killed by a stranger. Shall we kill off the bees first then concentrate on the other problem????
People, stop reading the bloody SUN and using their ideas. They are about as clever as the BNP party.
