If one is willing to condemn the current generation of youth with cruel labels such as vulgar, sex-driven unappreciative brats is it fair to say that the current generation of adults has been poor role models?

I conform to it

old fashioned

and love being the way they were.

I do end up doing a bit of judging but am tackling the issue at the moment.

i have always brung my boys up to repect the elders, even my youngest son who is 12 will open a door for anyone,as for me i love being friends with an older person, because they are older, wiser and way more smarter than the younger genrations under the age of 30.when i was growing up i was always taught to respect my elders and that is one thing i have always done andi passed that down to my kids and i'm 47 yrs old.it makes me sick to see how younger kids show respect to the older generations, they just don't care.they need some good old fashion whippings like we used to get when we were little growing up,then maybe they'll see a different light.

i disagree for the simple fact that if someone is bad how can he/she be a role model? the word role model has a positive connotation. also when comes to a certain age to realise what is right and what is wrong. my father was an alcoholic and addicted to pain killers, when i was younger he was my role model but once i discovered what was going on i knoew better and moved on. a role model is someone who does positive, where as someone who does something negative and someone else does it it's not called a role model but someone to blame when they did their stupidity. when someone is vulgar or sex-driven it is linked to their personality, their individuality, it was their choice.

Role modeling is just another way of blaming others for what you have done.

Rejecting the values of the older generation is often a part of the developmental process. As people mature, they would look at the values of their elders more objectively. They still may disagree, but it won't be merely a part of growing up.
