The thesis statement is the very last sentence of your first paragraph... In your first paragraph you start with an attention getter, then you slowly build up into your thesis statement. Also, you should re-write your thesis statement in a slightly different way in your conclusion.

Good Luck with your essay!

The thesis statement is the last sentence of the first paragraph.

The first paragraph is the introduction (or hook). It ends in a thesis.

The second through fourth paragraphs are the body of the essay. These paragraphs develop your three points you want to make to support your thesis.

The fifth paragraph is your conclusion. It restates the thesis in different words and often looks to the future.

The thesis statement tells the reader what the essay will be about and what points you will be making in your essay. Your thesis statement should state the subject of the essay, explain the point of view the essay will take or describe the ideas on your topic that you determined in your outline.
