i recently heard the grinding sound and figured its my cv joints i was wondering how much that would cost to take it somewhere and also could it be the catalytic converter making the noise?

a grinding sound probably means it has a brake problem

On some french cars you don't have the option of replacing just the outer cv joint and you may have to buy the whole shaft. Then questions like is the car manual or auto and if it has ABS come into account. But a complete shaft isn't that expensive i would estimate around £80.00. If you purchase the drive shaft or cv joint yourself make sure your mechanic doesn't throw the old one away because it will more than likely be an exchange unit. Try EuroCar Parts

Never heard of or have I seen CV joints on a Mustang. Converters will rattle, but won't "grind".

At a standstill is it grinding or while you press the brake to stop? If its while your stopping your cv's are ok . The cat will make noise at any time while running if its starting to go bad.
