Some went to America for religious freedom. Some went because they were debtors--It was a crime to be in debt. Some went because they couldn't make money in England.

Only the oldest child inherited the land so the younger children would choose to go to America for land.

The british decided to empty all of their jails and get rid of the Political Problem People and shipped them over. Yes, sad to say, if your ancestors came over from England, there is a 83-88 % chance your from jailbird stock. But, on the other hand, that is what sparked a lot of the freedoms we have now. We, back then, did not want big government telling us what to do and how to think. HMMMMMMMMM, will history repeat itself in the next 40-50 years?

No, they wanted to stay in England. Those who arrived here were kidnapped and forced against their will to come to this land and settle it so England could enjoy the riches of these lands. The kidnappings continued well into the 1800's when well over two million had been forced here. Some still are captives. Just listen to their complaints as they are held here at gun point!! Is there no freedom for those poor souls??
