I read this in a book recently, you add up all of what it costs you and times that by 5, this is what you usually get..Its hard to pin point time, but a great book to read is Crocheting for fun and profit. You can find it at amazon.com I have read it and its pretty good. Hope this helps.

If you check ebay, the cost people will pay is generally around 5-10 gpb (so upto $20), which doesnt even cover the cost of the wool. Baby blankets tend to sell for a about the same, but given they are so much smaller, its probably much more cost efficient to sell those. If you make them of fairly plain colours with maybe highlights rather than multitudes of granny squares they tend to lose the home made look a little and I think appeal to different sets of people, if like me you're churning them out it maybe worth a slight experiment of placing 2 or 3 on ebay and seeing how they fair.

Selling handmade items can be very tricky. It's hard to make any profit at all sometimes, especially if you use specialty yarns. I've tried to sell hand made afghans and had absolutely NO luck, but I've had a huge amount of success with smaller baby items like booties and hats. Items that work up fast with inexpensive yarns can be the most profitable. A good rule of thumb for pricing your own work is to multiply the amount of money you paid for yarn by 3. If you spend 15 dollars for yarn for a baby afghan then feasibly you shouldn't be ashamed to charge 45 dollars for it. Or 50 if you want to make it a round number. A good way to cut your own cost is to look at thrift stores or yard sales for the yarn. Then you can charge regular prices and have more profit in the end.

Hi! I also make and sell blankets. To me it depends on the costs of the materials, the difficulty of the pattern, and length of time. For example, I sell a simple baby blanket made out of sport weight yarn for $25.00 Canadian. I have also charged up to $100.00 for a time consuming adult afghan. Hope this helps!
Good luck with your endevors!

If you catch the right market, you can get a couple of hundred. Hook up with some interior designers and offer to make blankets in special colors just for them.

You have to get $200 - $300 to make it worth while.
You should raffle them off.
Just go up to people and ask, "Would you like to take a chance on a blanket."
