No doubt the best in baseball. Even though two of their top three starters (Harden and Loaiza) out for most if not all of the season, their 4 starters (Blanton, Haren, Gaudin, and Kennedy) have a combined 2.77 ERA which is far better than any other team in the majors. Haren and Gaudin are 1-2 in ERA for the AL.

wow, i totally think that your right ! the A's starters are unbelievable ! funny, i was just talking to my baseball buddy at work on Friday about the a's starters ! it just seems that no mater who they lose in free agency ( Tim Hudson, mark Mulder, Barry Zito) , it doesn't matter, they just keep on pumping out terrific starters like every single year after year !
they even traded the reds best pitcher ( Harang) & it doesnt matter, they just keep on rolling with their pitchers !
The a's have tremondously talented scouts & make savy trades usually & their minor leagues are stocked with promising young pitching talent ! my hats off to them !

No doubt about it. I think even once Loaiza gets healthy, keep him out until Gaudin or Kennedy starts to struggle, that is IF they struggle. Loaiza has had rough stops in Chicago (White Sox) and New York (Yankees) I don't know if that will continue in Oakland.
And once Harden comes back..man the A's might be the first team to have 3 starters in the All-Star game.
I'll admit, I had the Angels winning the A.L. West but now I am forced to pick Oakland. Not only for their pitching, but they seem to have a great August EVERY YEAR! Didn't they go like 22-5 in August a year or two ago?

Hands down, best starting rotations are Oakland, Anaheim, and Boston. In my opinion, Oakland sucks just cause of batting. They need to improve, probably why they got Shannon Stewart, good move. Plus, if Harden and Loaiza are healthy, this might be Oakland's year. And seriously, how the eff do you get Danny Haren for $2 million!?!?

You really have to give Oakland management a lot of credit. They are a small market team and have to rely on finding and signing good young players. They know they are only going to have many of them for a few years and the better players will sign large contracts with another team when they become a free agent. Good pitching is so hard to find and Oakland consistently comes up the best, so congratulations to the organization, job well done again this year.
