I have a souvenir that is made out of bamboo. It is a cut of a big bamboo about 4 inches in diameter/1 foot long and green. There are nice carvings on the outside surface of palm leaves, and lettering. There is also a cut slit in it. Unfortunately, it will turn yellow soon. Any serious ideas is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The slit is cut in it to prevent it from cracking as it dries. All bamboo once cut loses it's natural beauty and turns brown. The only way to keep it green would be to stain or paint it.

Does your bamboo have roots? If so feed it water everyday the same amount. If it doesn't than it won't last long... If you want to make it greener leave it in a room where there is little light!

Try keeping it in a small amount of water. It may grow roots, but it will be kept alive.

If you could get it to grow roots, then you could cultivate it to stay green. But otherwise, it will not stay green because its food source is gone.
