Ooh hon! I know how you feel! When I was 13 I went on a road trip to michigan and right before we left my period started! So yah, I was pretty much suck in a car for 18 hours with my period lol. During that time I also went in the swimming pool and the hot tub and it was just fine! Honestly, I started using tampons when I was 12 and it does hurt the first time or so until you get used to it and then its no big deal! Actually sometimes they even come with step by step instructions to help you along the first time! I dont mean to tell you to disobey your mom, but heres what I think. Bring along your pads just like usual for the trip, but when It comes time to go swimming see if you can find any of those tampon dispensers anywhere or see if your friends have any. you should be able to find some in a bathroom along the way of the trip. you actually might want to get a couple in case you mess up the first time. then while your changing into your swimsuit lay down (its alot easier when you lay down) and carefully and slowly insert it all the way. if it feels really uncomfy and hurts then its not in all the way, and you can just try again. really hon, its no big deal and I know you can do it! Then once your finished swimming, just take it out. It might also be a little scary to remove them the first time but you'll be okay. You've gotta learn how to do this sometime, and its better than making your trip miserable! You only graduate from middle school once! Congrats and I hope you have an awesome trip! Take care and everything will be fine :)

Just use a tampon. It doesn't hurt at all. How long does your period last? Alot of us answered your question earlier, I for one did. Just stop worrying and wait it out til wednesday. Worrying about it now isn't going to help you in any way shape or form. I know how bad you want to enjoy yourself with your friends on the trip that you already paid for. Wednesday will be day four on your period. If you are still on, Just use a junior absorbency tampon, they are really small and it won't hurt you at all even if you are only 14. They are made for young ladies like you. Then you can have fun. So just stop worrying about things you can't control. The issue is really simple to fix. Just wait til wednesday and do what you need to do depending if your period is still there or not.

Well, at your age, tampons should be fine and are (sorry to tell you) pretty much the only option out. You could choose not to wear a tampon, but your period will not "go away" in the water like most people think it does. It will probably be a lot slower by wedensday considering for me the second day is the worst. Just go and have a good time and if worse comes to worse, just try and use a tampon. And no, if you are putting the tampon in the right way, it shouldnt hurt.

You are not too young for a tampon, but you must use them properly. First, find yourself a slender tampon or an O.B. (they are small). Do not insert up high, you only need to get it in there and tug lightly to bring it down to "plug" the exit, to prevent leakage. Most importantly, the tampon cannot be left in there. It needs to be changed regularly (every 3-4 hours no longer). If you are swimming, you remove it immediately after you get out of the water. You can use them just for swimming if you like. If your period is near the end, if you go swimming, your period seems to stop and you will not "leak" anyway. But if you do not want to take that chance (boys present) then use the tampon, just for the swim and then get out, go to the washroom and remove it. Don't ever let your period get ya down. It is inconvenient but not the end of the world. You will find that it will appear at the most inconvenient times in your life, but don't let it stop you from doing everything you want to do. All healthy females get it, we just have to learn how to properly deal with it. Before going on your trip, go to the store and get some tampons. Learn how to properly use them....they can be difficult at first. Proper use, should never hurt you. Read the packaqing, it will help. Go and have fun on your trip and don't worry about your period.

Um, I dont know what brand your Mum is wearing but tampons are fine at any age from when you first get your periods. In my first year of highschool we had nurses come and talk to all the girls about their periods and they gave us each a free packet of tampons to take home with us. Tampons can sometimes feel uncomfortable if you insert them a bit funny, but if you get that feeling just pull it out and try again. Some stores sell "applicator tampons" which come in a little cardboard tube that you insert sort of like an injection. You push the end of the cardboard tube and then the tampon pops in by itself.
If you are not very tall and are of a slim physique you can buy 'slim' tampons if you like. Also you can buy organic ones and cotton ones to be more comfy if you are worried about it.
Mainly take care when buying absorbancy. I think its better to buy one lower absorbancy than your flow. Like if you have a really heavy period, I would buy a 'normal absorbancy' tampon, just to be on the safe side. Then no problems! Never leave them in for longer than 4 hours or so, but dont worry if you do it once....we all have.
Good luck, and there is no other way you can go in the water.... you have to use a tampon.

if your flow has slowed down a lot, you can probably go in the water (your period will slow down in the water a bit if it's towards the end of it anyway) & quickly get changed & wear a pad or whatever you normally do.
if you can't do that, you have to tell your mom you'll be missing out on a lot of fun because she won't let you use a tampon. they don't hurt, & why would you be too young? what does she think girls your age do if they're on a swim team & have their periods? they wear tampons.
worst comes to worst borrow a tampon from a friend when you get there. you wouldn't have to ask your mom then, you can do it in secret.

Please dont use a pad while swimming. The second you step out of that pool blood will be streaming down your legs. You dont want that! Tampons are the only way. Sorry, I know it sucks. You really should talk to your mom about it. I hate to say this but I dont think your period is going to stop by Wednesday. Good luck! I hope you can convince your mom!

Unfortunately, the only way I know to go in the water on your period is by using a tampon. Using a pad would be nasty to go in the water and very noticeable..so unless you talk to your mom and really ask her if you can use a tampon and if she could guide you into doing so..there's no can do. Just let your girls know...im sure they'll understand. Its natural, nothing you can do about it..Sorry sweetie

well your best option would be to use a tampon, but if you really can't/don't want to whatever then you're period shouldn't be that heavy by wednesday anyway if you got it today so you can wear your bathing suit bottom with a pad and just wear board shorts or cottony shorts. I'm not sure if they'd let you on water rides with cotton shorts but i know they will with board shorts. You can ask your mom to get you panty liners because they aren't as noticable as the ones with wings. Good Luck!!

Hun. Didnt i just tell you when you posted this question before..YOU CANT WEAR PADS IN THE WATER!!!! Not only is it bad for you, but its bad for other ppl when ur pad pops out and u start bleeding in the water. Tampons are not painful, and if ur old enough to have a period, ur old enough to wear a tampon. That is the only way ur gonna solve this problem. No pads, under any circumstances.
