When I first launch boat motor runs like a champ 40 mph but I get about 3/4 mile down the river and she chokes out on me. It will run about 1500 to 2000 rpm then thats it but no hesitation or sputering. But when I slam down the throttle it sounds like its gasping for air or fuel. But when it starts the not running right if I shut if off and fish for 15 min. then fire it up again she goes right back to haulin again for another 3/4 mile.. Any suggestions.

Check to see if the fuel tank is venting properly. The tank could be pulling a vacuum.Loosen the cap and run it.

A clogged vent on the fuel tank will sometimes cause that---the air can't get in to the tank to replace the fuel being used and creates a vacuum so the gas doesn't flow properly. Make sure the vent pinhole is clear or try removing the cap partially and retest your boat. Could also be a dirty bowl in the carb allowing the intake port to get plugged a little at times....clean out the bowl and check the fuel filter also. If all these are ok, it could also be a governer problem on the engine ---have a mechanic check it out.
