Move away from the part of the planet where the asteroid is expected to hit, if I can, because a 1 mile asteroid is too small to destroy all life on Earth. Probably I will already be in a different place, because compared to the 100 or so mile wide area of destruction, the Earth is a big place. So I would more likely be in the position of taking in people moving from somewhere else, or giving money and supplies to the relief effort.

Since it was an asteroid of about that size that hit the Yucatan Peninsula about 65 million years ago resulting in the extinction of the last dinosaurs and 90% of all life on Earth, I will first totally freak out. I will listen to the news and find out what time it will hit. I will then proceed to eat all of the good food, like steaks, out of my freezer and garden. Since I don't drink except wine, I would try to find someone with a bottle of 1964 Lafitte-Rothschild Bordeaux, and enjoy it. I would play my acoustic guitar while I watched the object until I was either vaporized by the impact or wait and watch for the global firestorm. I suppose my survival instinct would kick in if I survived and I would make the same futile attempt at staying alive as others.

I don't think I'd tell anyone about it. Global panic for 3 days and nothing can stop you from dying - who'd want to know about that? I figure I'll just make everyone's last 3 days miserable. I know I'd have a lot of trouble trying to figure out how to see my parents one last time - since they're 1000 miles away and I bet it'll be really hard to get gas. Who would spend their last 3 days on Earth working at a gas station?

If it will hit the open ocean, i'll climb/ascend mt.everest's base camp; or find the highest spot farthest from shore, just like what the movies suggest.
