My daughter wants to make a quilt for her father(my ex husband) for father's day BUT what he needs is a tool belt so I agreed to help her make both. But I cant find a decent pattern for the tool belt. Anyone have one they care to share?

I made pocketed nail aprons for a friend. I used the heaviest denim I could find. Cut it so finished it is about 20" wide, 10" high with a front pocket deptch (just folded upward) of 71/2".
I machine hemmed what would be the top pocket hem and the sides before folding the pocket upward--avoiding raveling edges and the hems add strength. Once the fold was made creating the pocket area, I then stitched upward and then down again to form the pockets. I allwed for a pencil pocket of about 3" right in the middle but you can form the pockets any way---just be creative. I used strips of denim 72" in length, cut about 2" wide for the tied. I made sure all the raw edges were pressed under about 1/2" before applying to the top of the apron, leaving about 30" to tie at each end. If you have access to a heavy duty braided material that could be folded over, that could work but may increase the cost.
But do make sure the pockets are well stitched (zig zag to tack at the top?) to avoid having them come unsewn. Take a look at jeans to see how they did pockets. Rivets are nice but sometimes not available at reasonable cost or not easy to
apply.
Just improvise. Does he need loops applied to suspend tools thru? Smaller pockets applied inside the big ones? Smaller pockets applied atop the bigger one?
