the importance of dissolved oxygen in water is that life in water is due to that dissolved oxygen. it id the same as we need oxygen in a mixture of different gases from air.

I suppose very few marine life would be possible without dissolved oxygen in water. To start with evolution of life as we know it might not have been possible.
