It takes practice to get it right.
If it's your first time using tampons, try to get a "Slim" brand.
Sit down on the toilet...... RELAX.
Point the tampon up and Back
Push it in, very slowly.
If that doesnt work, try standing on the ground, with one foot up on the toilet..
The main thing you need to do is RELAX!!
It will take a few times before you get it right.
Dont worry, you'll still be a virgin!
Good luck sweetie. Your life will be so much easier with tampons!

Well, I had trouble when I first started using tampons as well, so I felt I should help you answer this question. First of all, using tampons does not make you lose your virginity - the tampons can possibly stretch the hymen, but is clearly not the same as sexual activity with a partner. In addition, the easiest way to insert a tampon is to stand above the toilet and bend slightly at the waist. Then insert the applicator, holding the grips with your thumb and forefinger. Once your thumb and forefinger reach the entrance to your vagina, push the middle part of the applicator in until it stops - this will effectively insert the tampon, and should be in place properly where you can't feel it. If you can feel it, it's not in correctly. Another word of caution - if you have to remove it soon after inserting it, it will likely still be dry, so remove it with caution, as it can pull and be somewhat uncomfortable. I hope this helps! Also, be sure to use only the absorbency that you need for your level of flow - tampons are associated with toxic shock syndrome, although it's a very low possibility.

Using tampons does not make you lost your virginity.
Did you try using a mirror and the smallest size tampon available? My first time using them I couldn't get it in and I was nervous about it. Remember to relax as they really don't hurt at all. Use a mirror and try finding the "slim fits" size because they are made more for beginners. It's really about finding the right angle, which is unique to each woman. Try inserting it straight back at 90 degrees and work from there. You may have to tilt it around until you figure out the angle of your vagina. Once you get the hang of it you'll be able to do it in 2 seconds without thinking. Good Luck!
P.S. Someone below said that tampons cause UTI's and infections. I've used tampons for 7 years and have never had an infection from them! Tampons are not linked with urinary tract infections! Also, I doubt many gynecologists will tell you not to use tampons. I've worked with a women's health nurse practitioner and she used them.

I hate using pads too! I was really scared when I first started using tampons, but I just read the instructions on the box, and it does take a while to get the hang of it. I would try Tampax Sport Slim, these are really easy to get in.

no it does not make you loose your virginity, honey. there's quite a size difference between that tampon and a guy..or at least you'd better hope that there is!!!!!!!!
sorry, bad joke
seriously, it'll take a bit of trial and error to get comfy with putting in a tampon, i suggest that you sit on the toilet with your legs apart and knees bend. lean back a tad too. then just push the container in and towards your back. your body slopes back, it's not straight up and down. then push in the plunger part. pull out the applicator but do not pull on the strings while doing this. if it's in correctly, then after a minute or so you won't even feel anything is there. i would advise that you wear a panty liner as well because accidents happen.

You will need to practice to use tampons. You might go through a few of them before you figure out how to do it. I used tampons from the moment I got my period and they never hurt my virginity. I'm 45 now and still using tampons only. I hate pads. It's like wearing a diaper.

No you won't lose your viginity. You should get a slendar tampon to start with, put KY on the outside of the tube. Push the whole thing into your vagina, upwards and toward your lower back. Then when it's in place push the bottom tube up, and slide the plastic part out. When it's in right you won't be able to feel it, if it hurts you don't have it in right. It takes a lot of practice but you'll get it.

The box comes with instructions how to use them, with diagrams too. Read them!!! They will help you use them correctly, the right size for the right flow and how to insert them with the least risk of toxic shock syndrome. Also using tampons can break your hymen (a fold of skin that crosses your vagina inside) which is considered to be a sign of virginity but really you're still a virgin until you have intercourse.

Seriously though... take your time, read the instructions.
Wash your hands before and after touching the tampon!
Grab a mirror, get naked, and sit down on the toilet.
Find your vagina with the mirror.
Put a little vaseline on the tip of the applicator (for first timers, plastic applicators are great).
Take your time, relax and insert it at an angle so it points towards your lower back. Gently ease it in.
