There would be no need to use a tampon.
I would imagine that it would hurt to put in and I think it would increase you chance of getting TSS

I have to confess, I'm a little confused here. Why would you need to use a tampon (or anything else) if you haven't started having periods yet? If you want to see what they are like, it's not going to hurt you, but you should NOT leave it there for any length of time unless you are having a period. Even after you start having periods, tampons should be changed frequently, to avoid the potential for toxic shock syndrome, which is a serious illness. Also, be aware that very young girls who have a short vaginal "vault" may find tampons to be quite uncomfortable, to the point of irritation; such individuals should avoid them completely.

Why would this girl use a tampon if she is not on her period?

I mean, its ok if you want to try a tampon for the first time as long as they don't leave it in for very long (like ten minutes just to get a feel for it)...

But using tampons while not on your period is also increasing risk for Toxic Shock Syndrome.

First, why would you want to? They are a PAIN!!! Second, Toxic Shock Syndrome is a rare but serious condition you can get from using tampons. Third, on all the boxes, it says "Do not use if you are not menstruating." I think the companies know what they are talking about.

No but why would she use them for anything else? The instructions in the pack should be read thoroughly before using tampons because of the health risks of doing so, and how to use them properly when her periods do arrive.

Yes. There is no reason to use a tampon if you don't have your period. You would be putting yourself at risk for infection and toxic shock syndrome.

Not only is it a really stupid idea (why on earth would you use a tampon if you don't have a period?) but unsafe as you could get an infection or TSS.
