for a normal healthy 14 year old girl it should be perfectly fine. If on the other hand you are sickly, bleeding very heavily or have other health related issues, you need to consult a doctor. Most religions have special wavers for illness. Remember having a period isn't an illness, it is simply part of the normal life of women. Other factors would have to be involved to be considered an illness. Research your church library on the topic.

No, it won't affect your period. However, fasting during your period may affect YOU. Your body is losing blood; if you tend to bleed heavily, then fasting isn't necessarily a good idea.
Most religions (in my experience) make provisions for someone who is experiencing physical problems that would make fasting unhealthy; I don't know enough about your particular belief system to address that intelligently. If you feel that it's a bad idea to fast (especially if you bleed heavily), then it would be something that I'd think twice about doing. As it happens, I'm Jewish; we have some fast days, but if a person could potentially come to physical harm because of fasting, then he/she is actually FORBIDDEN to fast; examples of this would be young children, pregnant women, diabetics, anorexics, etc.
Ultimately, of course, you have to answer this question for yourself, in light of YOUR own beliefs, and not those of anyone else, including family and friends.
As we Jews would say in Hebrew:
Tzom kal!" (May you have an easy fast) :-)

It won't have any affect on your period. Just out of curiosity, why do you have to fast until 4?

Unless you normally lose a lot of blood then there should be no long term ill effects.
Religion insane? Noooooo!
I personally believe that when the Bible says 'going on a fast' then its a mistranslation of 'going to McJeremiah for some fast food'

in my religion-(Islam) the only people that connot fast are sick people(they should atleast try and get over it) and the women that have their period. the women/girls that have their period are considered non pure, so we have to be pure and clean. so during our period we do not pray our 5x a day or fast until we are pure and clean!!!!
i respect your religion and how you are still considering to fast!!! :)
