And what influenced the decision?
Would you have liked to stay longer, but couldn't?
Or would you have left earlier if you could?

They were talking about it at work the other day, and most people left around 24/5yrs old, I was surprised. I left at 18 and never looked back!

Yeah I left around 16/17 but mainly because home was hell - parents and me constantly fighting, dad is a violent alcoholic so got quite nasty so left, and yeah never really looked back either! I find now that some of the people at my work who still live at home and are around 20 ish years old just have no common sense at all!

They don't have to pay rent or bills etc but the credit card companies are falling over themselves to offer cards, etc and they're running themselves into debt before they've even moved out! It's scary really. This generation are going to be the worse for debt and bancruptcy yet!

I left at 20 to live with my boyfriend, I left for a few reasons really, 1, I fell in love even though we had only been together for 4 months we had been friends for 2 yrs before that. 2, I had three younger brothers and sisters and the youngest was 4, so Id have enough. 3, my mother wasnt being very understanding and supporting. 4, she said I would never leave home. Which hurt me alot, that she thought I would stay at home forever as my brother and sisters grew up, left home and had children.
Is now 6 years later and I just want to say "I SHOWED YOU MUM"

Well here's a surprise shocker for you, I'm 31 and live with my mum and probably won't leave for another two years. I'm very happy here and my mum is like my best friend. And before you think I am some kind of loser, well I'm not. I'm engaged to my partner of 5 years who now owns his own house and he does want me to move in with him but I like living where I am and will only move in once we're married, I don't think I'm missing out on that much and have the life of a normal woman my age. The best thing is that I don't have to pay rent or that many bills. So I think I definitely do have it better than slogging it off by myself at this point in time.

I left home at 23 years 6 months. Getting married was the influence.

I think I would have liked to leave earlier but in my day living with your girlfriend was still frowned on and sharing a place with a bloke meant you where queer (the word Gay had a different meaning then) and that was still illegal so caused lots of problems.
Most landlords would not let to unmarried and definitely not to Gays, and mortgage would only be given to one person if not married. So very difficult to leave home till getting married.

I left home when I was 15. It was either that or kill myself, i had a very evil abusive and manipulative step mother who treated me and my brother like slaves, he left home when he was 15 too, three years before me. I got the rough end of the deal though because after he left i was the only 'victim' for her to play with, and her and my dads marriage though never happy anyway went into total free fall. It still makes me feel sick to even think of those few years of my life. She made me hate myself so much I would cut myself with a scaplel blade just to release the hatred I felt for myself. I left and it was like the bigeest relief I have EVER felt. If she hadn't come into our lifes I would probably still be at home now because my dad is the coolest dad in the world.

I left at 18 to take a live in job. Married at 19 and had my own home from then on. I never regretted it as I kept in touch with my parents and visited twice a week.

It was 2 weeks after my 18th birthday. My little brother had stolen my birthday money and also the gas bill money, which my Dad blamed me for. Little bro had a fruit-machine addiction. I didn't speak to my family for 6 months. However I did move back in 2 years later and left again for 6 months. I was a Yo-Yo home-leaver!! Finally left home properly at 27 to get married.

Left home shy of the age of 14.
When through ruff, tuff, sad and happy times but never once went back home to what was there.
By choice and before anyone judges me it was the right choice then at that given time in my life.
Only sad I had to leave my sibling behind me.
Made me a stronger person.

I left at 17 years old. No influence, just that time!!! There was no question whether or not I could have stayed, I could have but chose not to. No, I wouldn't have left at a younger age.

I'm still there at 24 years old. I have left before but I split up with the missus and had nowhere else to go. I like living here as it is much cheaper.
