Which of the 2 XP versions should I get on my Alienware Aurora m9700 notebook? I need to know the difference in the two?
My programs will not work with Vista.

There really isn't that big of a difference just a few things. One the appearance is a slight difference and the only big difference is the windows media center player other then that, they are basicly the same.

Windows MCE is basically a "coat" as I would put it because it can do media type stuff like DVDs, TV, Music, and etc.. Which I would call pockets. If kinda understand what I mean. But I was looking into my computer and Basically It runs on Windows XP Pro. So either way your using XP Pro either your using Pro or MCE. Basically put in a anaology form.. Windows XP Pro.=Body...Windows XP Media Center Edition=Coat for Body.

Yes... But the only diference is that you can Record and watch Live TV with Windows Media center. And with Xp you cant. Unless you download a TV steaming software from the internet.

MCE = just has a fancy interface for looking at media nad allows to record TV easier with a TV tuner. MCE is just a media-centric version of XP Pro with a shiny theme (which i disable anyway)

MCE allows you to interact with your TV, so if you want that, get Media Center. If not, Pro.
