Limewire by itself DOES NOT give you viruses. However, if you keep it running and it connects to peers (other people) they might be infected. The worms will travel through the network to you unless you have some anti-spyware or anti-virus software. Music downloads, I have found, from Limewire have never given me viruses.

I have never gotten a virus from Limewire, EVER! I do watch which files I download and do not download ones with strange file sizes. I also have AVG scan the folder where they download to, before i open them.

the main problem with Limewire is that it's loaded with virus's. Try E-Donkey, it's a much safer file sharing program. Also remember that it's not illegal to download files but is illegal to share them. So........ whatever you download remove from your share folder so others can't download from you.

Limewire in itself is not illegal, it is just most people use it for illegal things.

There is no such thing as free music, you will pay for it when your computer dies.

Don't do it, there is soo many viruses not to mention the fines if you are caught.

limewire itsself is not illegal. Just the stuff you download from it. lime wire does have a box in preferences you can check so illegal downloads won't occur but you probably won't get any returns on any of your searches.

Make sure you have a norton anti-virus on your computer as well as a spyware checker...Sometimes you can get viruses off of there that will disable your computer's ability to connect to the internet. However, if you're smart about it and take the necessary precautions you should be alright.

You can get Norton Antivirus for around 40-50 dollars...and a spyware checker for around 25.

I use to use Limewire, the free client version. Nothing happened, as far as I know.

But it's vulnerable to ISP throttling.

I now use eMule, very safe, lots of source, and its secure against my ISP throttling.
