as a whole i don't think we do,but as we embrace all these new found "freedoms" family values and society itself seems to be going backwards, and we don't really gain anything of true value, anyway.

Yes, there are a million things...lots of sacrifices... I don't no if 4 the right reasons. But society as a whole is responsible 4 damaging nature among other things 4 the benefit of us enjoying more space and land ...having firewood etc.
Now, in my personal life I wish I would not have worked so hard 4 material things when I should have spent more time raising my children and being presence.. than material gifts that they no longer care nothing about!
I missed some important years in their lives,no memories and I can't get them back!!

Yes, all the beautiful ancient life and skills that went with that. We wouldn't know how to survive a winter without a house or supermarket, but a person from before what we have gained couldn't survive in the wild anymore for lack of edibles. everywhere you look: we gained modern life.

Yes we have lost cleaner air as we make technological advances, kids have stopped exercising to play video games, family dinner has been all but destroyed by fast food

sometimes it take more losing to realize what you had... rather than the other way. i think maybe it isn't as clear, or possibly sometimes our thoughts are biased at different points.
