You can only have one antivirus program installed, or your will have serious conflict with your system. You can have three or even four antispyware programs installed without conflict.

Then there is the issue of resources. If you are running Nortons their programs are 100% resource hogs and will eat alive.

Have found from experience that you must have a good background scanner with your antivirus. Always use a program that requires little or no resources. My antivirus program has two background scanners as they work and will kill any embedded virus in real time.

I also have found that antispyware background scanners are really good for nothing as they don't stop spyware in real time and just use up more resources. (I run four antispyware programs without any background scanner.

Never install more than one anti-virus on your PC, as they may conflict with each other. On the other hand, its always good to install more than one anti-spyware.

they shouldn't do, but make sure they scan at different times, or they might slow your computer down a little.
