If you want to reinstall it as if you were doing it on a new hard drive like the ones you buy at the store you do these steps.
Start->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Computer Managament->On the left side you will see a tree that says Storage, click on it.. then Disk Management->The look for two partions on one disk->After that.. right click on the one that says HP_Recovery it should say "delete partition" as one of your choices.->After that it will be one big partition and then right click on it and it should say either "format" or "Delete Partition" click delete partition and reboot and nothing will be on the disk. No Windows XP or File system such as NTFS or FAT32. When you use your recovery disk it will reconize as a blank disk and automatically create a bi-partitioned hard disk with the HP_Pavilion or whatever you have and also a 2nd one named HP_Recovery. The recovery process will take about 1 hour and 40 minutes using 3 recovery disk.. or atleast thats how long it took me to do mine. After that. Happy Computing!!

The recovery disk's should give you the option to "reformat" your hard drive before they load your OS. Therefor, that would "wipe" the drive first and remove all data.
