Yes..... I Do it in Oklahoma..... its not as bad as most people think... and its for YOUR Safety.. the more we know about tornadoes the faster we can get warnings out so you guys can get in your protected area, and we may even be able to cotrol them such as cloud seeding.

Yes. There really are people who jump in their cars or trucks and rush to the site of a reported tornado. They're usually called storm chasers, and their targets may include severe weather phenomena apart from tornadoes.

The guy above me who worked for FEMA (apparently) is the nutso. What he doesn't realize is that most of these storm chasers are "PROFESSIONALS" who usually receive "INFO" from the weather service so they can plot the storm's path and stay "SAFELY" away from the tornado. On top of this, these storm chasers are usually quite a ways away from any danger that may pose a threat.
It's their job. Without them, we may not have as much knowledge of a tornado as we do today.
Just a thought...If they wanted "attention" so badly, wouldn't it be easier to for them walk into a bank and attempt to rob it? Or to grab an assault rifle and go on a downtown "cruise?"

yes there are, that's how we get most footage of tornado's, and most are spotters who report the tornado's. they follow storms that have potential tornadic activity. i would love to be a tornado chaser. watch the movie twister, you will see some of what they do

yes and these people who chase these twisters are called storm chasers and the ones who give the weather channel to post out for you to see like a severe thunderstorm watch or warning are storm spotters.

david is correct what he didn't mention is that these "NUTSOS" go out and put themselves into dangerous situations against the advice of emergency personnel putting themselves and the people who are trying to deal with the emergency in danger in the name of "SCIENCE" when what they are relly doing is chasing "CHEAP THRILLS" to satisfy their sick need for attention and adrenaline rush
