catchers pretend to shift right when the ball is coming to the left. outfielders pretend they have a chance to catch a fly when they know they won't. firstbasemen sometimes hide the ball so the guy on first can get tagged if he steps off. get my point. the game is full of stuff like what Arod did.

And therefore, maybe you should follow tennis, golf or even chess where that stuff isnt tolerated. If somebody other than Arod would have yelled like that, it wouldnt have been an issue, and you morons would have thought it was funny. Give it a break. Look at all the tobacco spitting, bird seed spitting and just general spitting that goes on during the course of a game, is that classy? The only reason this whole thing wasnt classy because it was ARod and thats the bottom line. Now shut-up and move on.

I disagree with that statement. Baseball is completely full of little acts of "Bush league" plays and no-class.
If for no other reason - you can't watch a baseball game on TV for more than a minute without watching a player "readjust" himself.
Pitchers and catchers have to change their signs whenever a runner gets to second because if they don't, the runner WILL steal their signs. Not to mention, I've heard before that teams employ certain guys solely to try and steal the signs of opponents.
The media is just picking on ARod since he has such a high salary. Sure, as far as class goes in MLB, he wouldn't be in the upper echelon, but Baseball is no gentlemens sport.

Arod did what he had to do to help his team out in a time of need They have been horrible and need to do what ever needs to be done to win a ballgame. Answer this, is it legal to do what Arod did? Yes so therefore he did nothing wrong other than what you would call being classy. i consider what he did a way of trying to help his team out in a time of crisis.
Also if the yankees werent so bad. you peope wold just be laughing at what he did, and not caring who he is seen with on the cover of a magazine. Everyone has a bad year. if your gonna rag on them for having 1 bad year you arent a true yankee fan. Look what they did all those years and all those titles. The were bound to have a bad year eventually. And i am sticking up for them and Arod and im an idians fan so you ll just need to shut the hell up about how bad and unclassy the yankees and arod are.

I agree that for some reason trash talking in baseball is some kind of unspoken taboo. Other sports the players jaw at each other constantly. But in baseball anything more than a "How are you?" while standing at firstbase is taken as an insult.
As far as being "class acts", sorry. MLB might think it comes first - or at elast hand-in-hand with winning. But if that was the case they would have taken a hardline against drugs a decade ago.

I would agree, if sportsmanship were a determining factor in a pennant race.
But, classless acts like ARod's do not affect the final score, unfortunately.
Just thinking, the Sox are way ahead of the Yankees, maybe you have a point. :)

Why all the hating on A Rod.
Did you ever fake a throw, or catch.
Did you ever yell swing batter.
This not golf or tennis where you sit mute.

Baseball is a class act? LMAOOOOOOOOO. How classy is it when a pitcher intentionally beans a batter? How classy is it when a manager acts like a kid throwing a temper fit when a call doesn't go his teams way?

A Rod is freakin dink. There are a lot of things he shouldn';t do (like step off his base and cover home plate when there is a line drive hit towards the monster and bases are loaded) but hey...good for us Sox fans!! I say let him keep doing crap that puts a damper on his name. I can't wait til he signs with Boston...we're still going to hate him even then!!

I agree, but then again A-Rod is a frustrated Yankee, and they don't know any better, especially when it comes to being a class act.
Chow!!
