when i say a man is fifty, though he looks older. he is dressed in a peaked cap. capenters overalls , work boots and a lumberjack shirt, and is carrying a black lunchpail under his arm. what do you think this suggests of him?

A man who has worked hard, probably with his hands his whole life. Made sure that his children are looked after and have a better chance in life than what he had.
His wife packs his lunch, and he enjoys a quiet drink after a hard day.

I think if this is what you need help with, you really don't need much help at all. This is nothing. A person can present themselves any way they choose. You can no longer judge a person by their appearance, attire, choices, etc. This man sounds like a laborer who deserves respect since most people can't get off their fat a**es anymore to change the TV channel.
