Check:
1. Place one of the old shoes beside the new one to make sure the same
2. The plunger push rods are properly seated in the shoes & both sides are equal length. (Wheel cyls. are not frozen)
3. The anchors are properly secured
4. The springs are properly installed
5. The slack adjusters are set in the shoes, (sometimes there is a burr on the new shoes) are turned in all the way, & not frozen
6. The drums have an accumulation of rust around the lip
7. The parking brake cables are free. If the spring is compressed, then likley need to replace.
Place you clean hands on either side of the shoes & push inward, towards the wheel cylinder, to ensure alignment.

You need to rewind the brake adjuster at the bottom of the shoes so it doesn't show many threads, then adjust it out from behind when the drum is on. It's currently adjusted for worn brake shoes, so it's pushed the pads out too far. That's all.

adjust the brake setting - you'll see a wheel in the middle @ the bottom turn it in the direction that makes your brake shoes take less space . just enough to get the drums on .

rotate the adjuster screw all the way in then slowly ajust it out till you here the shoes grabbing the drums..also make sure all the parts are installed properly...best way is to look at the other side all ways do one at a time so you can look at the other side for help...also its reversed on the other side FYI

& that's IF IT has a star adjuster - ALSO make sure the EMERGENCY brake is TOTALLY off !! AND b sure SOMEBODY hasn't adjusted the emergency brake CABLE(s) & that U don't have a frozen or stuck wheel cylinder piston !! SOME of them had [cable] adjustments under the rubber boot ,IF the E-Brake handle is mounted in the center between the front seats..

loosen the bleeder valve and try to compress the brakes, then put the drum back on and bleed the brakes also they should have a adjustment link on the top or bottom of the brake assembly make sure it is all the way in even before using the bleeder valve do that as a last resort. good luck
