a birdcage keeps a bird safe from the outside world... an underwear keeps the outside world safe from a more dangerous bird...

Is this a trick joke question that if I said "I don't know" you would say something like if I didn't know the difference you hope I don't try to wear the birdcage'? If not, please tell the answer to this riddle and I will check on the answer when this is closed.

I'm sure if you tried to wear the birdcage as underwear you would soon find out the difference, and imagine all that grit getting into little awkward places...............
