Ater Mientkiewicz was injured last night, the Yankees seemed to really fall apart. Proctor's pitching was off, Jeter made another error and others seemed distracted.

Proctor stated his concern over Mientkiewicz and that he prayed. Perhaps Jeter in his own way was distracted too. Maybe Jeter even thought it was his fault??? Of course we know it was an accident.

Maybe all of the Yankees were distracted in some sort of prayer or concern for their teammate. Is this really a loss?

Is this really a question?!! You're talking Sox-Yankees, so Mientkiewicz injury did not distract the Yankees. The Sox distracted the Yankees! This is always a high intensity series. Proctor was distracted by the vaunted Sox line-up and with what occurred the night before (beaning Youkilis). What is your excuse for the Yankees being near the bottom of the AL East--distraction or disfunctional?!

Yeah the Yankees lost because they suck. Nice to see that $200 million payroll doing as well as it is. What joke! HAHAHAHAHA It's funny to see them struggling to stay ahead of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays!!!!!! I hope this is the beginning of a long slump for the Yankees, and let some teams that have heart & talent (not bloated egos) go to the World Series.

I think you're right, that Jeter's second error was due to his reaction to the injury, which he could have been feeling guilty for having caused. The inning started falling apart with Bobby Abreau's non-play in the field, and the Yankees have not looked good defensively. Still, they were coming back and seemed to almost have the old feeling; we'll see today whether they lost, or really, really lost.

I personally am a Red Sox fan because I live in Boston, but unlike most I do really like Jeter. The yankees seemed to be preoccupied with something. It may have been Mike Lowell destroying Cano, or Mientkewicz. I personally think that are trying to rush everything because they are so far back in the division.

for all you Red Sox fans saying the Yankees need excuses. Why did you blame a 86 year World Series drought on a curse????? the yankees are out no question but its nice to see they are keeping their minor leaguers and avoiding a huge blockbuster trade where they lose players like melky, robinson, phil hughes, who came through the farm system

Yes, they REALLY lost last night and NOT because they were distracted. They are just a poor ball club, and no excuses by fans like you hold up at all. They are just plain pitiful!!

Chow!!

Yes, the Yankees lost. The score was 11-6. These are major league players, and they would not make excuses such as those you offer.

You're in for a long season! The Red Sox put a azz whooping on the Yank's last night. I hope Dougs o.k., he's a great guy. I loved him as a Minnesota Twin first baseman!! He's a true team player.

Yep... not only the yanks lost last night, but they lost face, respect, and the entire season. their season is out of the window.....no point for roger to even come back.

Roger wanted to come pitch for a winner that can win a world series will he'll find out soon enough the yanks will not even make the postseason!
