The first time I saw David Blaine on TV, "David Blaine: Street Magic", I was truly AMAZED...it didn't look like he was doing "tricks" or illusions but, what he was doing looked real (of course, we all know it's not...so he is quite adept at what he does).
I sent away for his DVD release "David Blaine - Fearless" where he performs much of his "street magic" to the amazement of regular people and unsuspecting pedestrians he chooses along the way to show his magic to.
One of the most mystifying of course, is where he performs his levitation illusion...and you have to wonder, "what's the trick? he really did levitate."
Less impressive to me however, were his "Frozen in Time", "Vertigo" and "Drowned Alive" tricks that he performed in New York City which were rather disappointing for a "magician" of Blaine's caliber since they were more "feats of endurance" than they were "magic".
All in all, David Blaine is indeed, quite amazing and it's hard for the simple mind, like the one I have, to fully comprehend that what you're seeing is not real but "only a trick" when you see it happening right before your very eyes.
Did you happen to see this...
During his appearance on Last Call with Carson Daly, he pretended to pull his heart out and fainted. The segment was staged, but NBC almost cancelled the illusion. It was told that the audience was completely shocked and some members ran away crying or screaming.

I saw him live when he did his stunt at lincoln center last year before he went into the tank, he was doing card tricks with the crowd. He had someone pick a card and place it back in the deck, then took the friend of the person and had him reach in his pocket and pulled out the card. I'm friends with magicians that do magic and it all really is a slip of the hand but how sly and discreate you can be with it is the real trick.
