Is Damien a bad or evil name? My friend wants to name here son Damien and wants to know.?

I mean I been told the same thing about wanting to name my son Mordecai even though it's biblical. I figured I'd call him Cai or use Mordecai as a middle name at least.

I think if that's the name she wants then she should use it.
I don't think she let others or the fear of a bad rep on a name to influence her decision. I hope that made sense.

Damien is a lovely name and unless your friend is suppersisious then she should just name her son Damien!

People do think it's a bad and evil name because of the film called Omen!

It's a nice name that has unfortunately been given a bad rap because of the Omen movies. What if the kid in the movies had been named John? Would people be iffy about naming their kids John because of that? If you really don't like Damien there are some variations you can use, like Damon or Damiel.

I have know 11 Damien's over the last 19 years and recently had a conversation with my mother about a little boy that she baby sits with the same name.....we both came to the same conclusion....have not met a "Damien" yet that did NOT live up to his name!

I guess it depends on how much she likes it. And if she chooses to go with it can she listen to all the nay-sayers who dislike the name. Whatever she chooses to name her little guy, someone out there will find some negitive thing to say about it. I don't think it is a evil or bad name. Just a name with a bad rep.

I also have a friend who named their little boy Damien, and he is the cutest, sweetest, little guy ever!!!

The name Damien is the name of Satan if your a religeous person but if not it's just a name.

But naming your child is a personal preference, but most people try to choose a name that sounds good with their Sirname.

Its really a personal opinion. I think its just a name. In fact its one i am rather fond of. A name wont make a child bad or evil. Many people say its a bad name because its one of the many names to refer to the son of the devil. However, like i said, its just a name.

Personally as a name I like it, but because of the movie The Omen, I myself will not pick it if for example I'm going to have a baby boy soon which I'm not I'm passed it now. When I was pregnant with my first, my husband wanted to call him Aaron, but his mum told him not to because it's a Jewish name. Not that is wrong but because we are not Jewish I suppose. Then we end up calling him David whether that is similar or not I never found out. A friend I used to know called her little girl Natasha, and when I told other friends about it they came up with Ah satan - Natasha spelled backwards.I do wish your friend good luck.

i didnt even dare to read the answers before mine, because I am afraid they are going to attack your friend. I am naming my son damian, also, and i think its beautiful. alot of people dont like it just because of the omen movie, but thats just a character. just because the baby shares a name with an evil person, whether they be real or imagined, that doesn't mean they are going to act the same. damian actually was the name of a saint, and I dont remember what the name means, but its nothing evil, i know that.
