No, they are in big trouble because their starting rotation is a mess. Of the starting pitchers they had in the World Series last year, none of them is currently in the rotation, as Carpenter is hurt, Reyes was sent down to the minors, and Weaver, Marquis and Suppan were not retained as free agents. GM Walt Jocketty (sp?) deserves a lot of the blame as he and the Cardinals sat on their collective a - - es this past off season and didn't acquire some more quality pitching to offset the free agent losses.
Also, Edmonds and Rolen are getting older and banged up more frequently, and their lineup outside of big Al just isn't that great.

No winning record for the Cardinals and no playoffs. They are about as exciting as the Yankees right now with no reason to think they will change.
