I have HORRIBLE back, shoulder and neck pains from playing soccer. The season is over and now I'm left with literally huge knots in my back. My boyfriend has tried to work them out for me, but it hurts so bad, even to the touch. My soccer games and practices are very rough and the games are brutal. I've asked my mother to take me to a chiropractor, but she doesnt think that a 16 year old should have to go for " Normal aches and pains from sports". What can I do to make this any better? Pain killers like tylanol and advil don't help.
How can I convince my mother that I really DO need to see a chiropractor?

First, you are suffering from an injury, and there is nothing normal about that no matter what your age. Because you are young, the resaons for having your problem properly diagnosed and treated are much more important, to prevent long term problems. Your answer, however is probably NOT in a chiropractor's office. You need to see an orthopedic Physician (MD), perhaps even one specializing in sports medicine, such as your injury likely originated there and would be almost routine for this type of MD. You might eventually be referred to a Chiro for PT or other treatment, but an accurate diagnosis and treatment from a specialist in this field is paramount.

There are many reasons people SAY they are opposed to gay marriage, but are these the REAL reasons more than half of Americans think it best to deny someone their right to marry? A major thing like denying rights should call for major reason behind it, and none of the supposed ones hold any water. There is only ONE reason they are really against it: narrow-minded fear. Many people are just plain uncomfortable with homosexuality altogether, and do not want to see it becoming accepted by society. Some are downright disgusted with the mere thought of two men sharing a life together, and disguise that fear with something that comes off as a valid claim. There is no reason whatsoever to deny a tax-paying American the right that so many enjoy. This should not even be an issue today. This country is supposedly free, but until same-sex marriage becomes legal, this country, in actuality, is NOT free.

Would your mother consider a professional massage therapist? One who specializes in sports massage or deep tissue/myosfascial release could help you a lot. She might be more open to that suggestion than a chiropractor...some people are a little leery of them...which is unfortunate.

Edit: I thought of this after I submitted the first part...Try to get your hands on the book, "Acupressure's Potent Points: a Guide to Self-Care for Common Ailments," by Michael Reed Gach. It is an excellent self-help book. Between you and your boyfriend, you might be able to work out many of your knots using this book.

No, you have it from having anal sex with your boyfriend.

If you can't take frank answers from people without reporting them, then I suggest you stop asking questions. You're a 16 year old that does things without bothering to find out anything about them, then are surprised by the consequences of your stupidity. Then you act like nobody is allowed to point this out to you.

You don't need a chiropractor, by the way. You just need to take an hour long soak in the tub afterwards. Having chiropractic work done on you at your age can mess up your spine and create worse problems for you as you get older.

IB profen would be better for muscles. They have these therma heat pads that are activated by the air. they can stick on to the area and relax the muscle i use them for back ache and cramps. Try taking a hot bath. Also maybe icy hot. i use that on my back aslo but do not use it with the heat pad. I would not recommend a Chiropractor but i also dont agree with them so it would be ur judgement.

Start going to the school nurse to get it documented that you are having more than the average "aches and pains from sports".

If you see your nurse enough, they might send a letter home to your mom that it would be beneficial to take you to see a chiropractor.

Have you also tried heating pads? Icy hot?

You could also constantly complain about the pain until she gives in and takes you to one.

well maybe chiropractors aren't covered under her insurance? lol..

seriously maybe make and appointment with a sports medicine doctor..

ive seen both types, and the sports medicine guy DETESTS chiropractors, says they are hacks, with less than basic medical training, and at BEST they have rudimentary knowledge of the human body...

See an orthopedist. It's possible you knocked a vertebrae, the one that starts near the first rib, out of whack.

It will not get better on its own.
