Uh oh. You spoke a definite truth. Watch out. The libs are gonna say all kinds of nasty things to you because they can't rebuke your question in a productive manner.

a major concern for this countries future for sure. Security and freedom. It may seem extreme but if you look hard enough, one can see that this cannot go too long without a solution. There has to be a answer. I was listening to a black call in show here in cleveland and one person suggested that this be taught in the urban schools and churches. Black leaders need to rise up, as well has minority leaders and give the community a direction.
Stop one spouse homes and broken families. Its the tip of the iceburg of our countries problems. More needs to be done in order to make our country safe and for poor families to have a sense that they can make it. I feel that although terrorism and outside threats are important to resolve, the biggest threat to our stability is ourselves. Take care of our own first!!!!

please suggest a solution ... problems are a dime a dozen.
***
Go ahead ... 'surprise' pregnancies have been part of humanity since time immemorial.
Afai see, every possible route open to a woman who finds herself pg by 'surprise' is a landmine waiting to explode under her.
She'll get psychological scars for decades or longer no matter what she does -- abort, give away a child, raise as a single mother, marry the wrong guy, marry someone else whether he knows or doesn't. [She'll even get psychological scars if the child is stillborn -- 'not her fault' does not compute to a pregnant woman.]
***
In a society that is openly sexual [ugh! can you even imagine the alternative?], there will always be deadbeat fathers. They'll always have excuses for being jerks and some won't even bother with an excuse.
What's your prescription, doctor?

I do think that out of wedlock births are part of the causes of poverty, but not the only one. We are importing millions of poor people every year through our immigration system, both legal and illegal. Many of the Hispanics in our schools are illegal immigrants or the children of illegal aliens, and they do very poorly in school. We should not allow illegal immigrants to be educated in our public school system, and we should not allow the children of illegal immigrants to be granted automatic citizenship.
If we were to secure our borders and deport most of the illegal aliens in our country, the levels of poverty in our country would lessen dramatically. That is one solution!
The other solution is to demand that children behave in our public schools, and back our teachers and principals who impose discipline on badly behaving students. If the children gain a good education, then they can rise out of poverty. That's two solutions!

I'm sorry who slipped what in your drink. That is so much racially motivated drivel. Is it better to be the product of an unhappy marriage to see your parent beatedn or abused or even be abused becuae you are who you are. What affects poverty inthis country is not the unwed parents it is the lack of jobs that pay for people to have a life. I have a friend 3 kids w/ husband worked all her life and was laid off after her last child because her child was disabled and her mother ended up with dementia and alzheimers her husband was working and then his job was dissolved they are struggling very hard and each moment is struggle but both of them were brought up by single parents and they never joined a gang and worked really hard to provide for their children what they didn't have and as hard as it is they still do there best. Gangs do not help our society but it not just the product of single parents I have one parent who raised me and I have a job and a degree and no gang desires and you know what neither do any of the people I know how do we contribute to the poverty that is affecting this country our taxes and money go back into the system to help those in need. So what one person does you cannot judge a group by the actions of 1, 2 or even 3. Talk to media and movies for glamourizing the gansta lifestyle not the single parents talk to the education system that does not believe in handing out condoms for those who do not want to abstain because it will make them beliieve that sex is ok truthfully we act as if sex is the enemy when lack of education is the problem. Teach the kids joining gangs how to think for themselves and they are less apt to become part of the group mentality. Perhaps gangs have become reampant in the black/latino commuities but that is by no means the only gangs tha exist and never has been. Also having married parents does that make you less likely to join a gang perhaps for some but not for all. Gangs protect there own they are sort of the low grade fraternity usually without the education and higher aspirations and once you have joined you are a member for life whether you want ot continue that membership or not. I will say this on closing the product of a single parent I was loved and cherised and raisd to think independently yes my dad had other women but he married them all only my mother did not want to be part of what she saw as a cycle that was not conducive to her type of upbringing she most desired for her child. Did my other brothers and sisteer do better with both parents yes and no some did some didn't but they are all adults and have made their own choices, I am close to them and glad for insigts they offer into my life and parenting tips for when I have my own children. Liberalism is what allows us as a country to have choice and say what we think and feel and follow the directions dictated to us by the constitution in pursuit of happiness and the life that is open to anyone regardless of race, creed or class it is up to you make your decisions and find your own directions. We do not have to be a gov't stodge unless we so choose

too much poverty afflicting africa, asia & s. america
too much in-equitable distribution of wealth
too much vested interests, too much politicking
indeed a bold statement, worthy of applause
we need a concerted effort ... but how ...dunno
nope, i'm not a us national, neither am i a us basher
maybe change starts from there, to the benefit of one & all

While the fathers of these illegitimate children are certainly at fault, we cannot gloss over the fact that women are out there spreading their legs much much too early. This is what they shown on television, magazine, books, school, etc.. They also have two parents working and no guidance. Parents more often than not have the assumption that their child is so mature, when in fact just the opposite is true. They are not capable of making adult decision or accepting adult responsibilities.

One way would be to base welfare payments and public support PER MOTHER instead of PER CHILD.
A woman with 5 kids gets the SAME BENEFITS as a woman with 1 child. JUST LIKE WORKING PEOPLE.

I am unclear on what you are proposing. Are you suggesting mandatory sterilization of all men siring children with different woman and refusing to pay child support?

I don't think the answer is to abandon those children who wind up in poverty.
