First perform the log function. log (base 9) of 3 = .5
Subsitute .5 in for the log resulting in
(x^2-5x).5=-2

Then divide both sides by .5
(x^2-5x)=-4

Get everything to one side and factor
x^2-5x+4=0
(x-1)(x-4)=0
x-1=0 x-4=0
x=1 x=4

(x² - 5x)= -2 / log9 3=-2*log9/log3=-2*2=-4

x² - 5x+4=0
x1=1
x2=4
