By failing to ignore that little spark of curiosity.

It then works like pulling a loose thread on a knitted sweater.
All you wanted to do was tidy up a little detail, but then the whole thing starts unravelling and getting very messy.

A good unravelling question is the basic epistemological one:
"How do I know I know that?"

it depends on how old are they and/or how flexible they are. some have been brain washed so hard as a kid . these people have a blinder on and dogmatic and anti-social. if someone is "educated" ; doesn't mean they can't be ignorant. they can come from above group.they would know and are specialized in one Field. now one could be illiterate but not ignorant. SOCIAL EDUCATION is what one needs to wake up. interaction with as many groups as possible and even spent as much time possible with them. this will help a lot. opportunity to travel, specially to a developing nation. while socializing, one can learn about different schools of thoughts. none of the school of thoughts have all the truth in them but there is a little truth or more in all of them. in order to get closer to truth one has to learn about all of them! i hope that helps and wakes some of them up!

Read. think critically, discuss - and think again. But don't waste time with fantasies such as the supernatural - life's too short. Stand on quietly and all will be revealed - or not.

I used two different quotes to help me evolve as a person:
"Those who matter do not judge; those who judge do not matter" ......unknown

"Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people"......Eleanor Roosevelt.
