The best way to stop procrastination is to make a plan to do whatever it is you have to do, and do it. Say you are going to do something at this time until this time. If you don't complete it, make a plan when to complete it.
Make a "To Do" list, prioritize, and mark off each item completed.
Have it in your mind that sometimes you don't need to know the best way, just learn what is the best way from doing. It doesn't work in all situations, but some situations don't matter. Not everything has to be perfect. Life may be more interesting that way.
Avoid the paralysis of analysis.

Two things seem to help: (1) simplify your decisions and focus on the specific actions that move whatever you are dealing with forward; and (2) stream your actiions.

Both of these are a simplified version of approaches like Allen's "Getting Things Done" (it may help to read the book or to google the 43 file folder approach which is a key tool popularized in his book).

Simplifying means having a sharp, concrete, focus on specific details in your life. Know what you are dealing with, and when and how this occurs. Dealing with specifics, one at a time, and in the short-run (i.e., with a sense of immediacy) is easier than sucking your thumb about what to do in relation to a whole, vaguely defined, largely unknown, general idea that lasts however long you do not know into the future. That is, general ambitions (e.g., I want to be healthy, wealthy, and/or wise) are ideas. Specifics. on the other hand, e.g., I'll turn up for this job interview, are focused events or steps in this long-range perspecfive.

Secondly, stream tasks. What's on the agenda today? What can be ignored (tossed into the waste basket). What can be done now (Allen suggests anything that is worth dong and can be done in two or three minutes should be done immediately and gotten rid of)? What can be dealt with at a timetabled work period today, or scheduled for a specific later time and date? What should be filed for future reference? What shoud be broken down to steps and specifically scheduled to meet a deadline, set by others or self-imposed?

why do today what you can put off till tomorrow or tomorrow....
best way is to make a plan stick to it on a daily or if need be minute by minute schedule till it becomes as it should be automatic... cheers
